Full-Time CDL-A Delivery Route Driver:


The N.K. Hurst Company, a family owned and operated business, is looking for an experienced tractor-trailer truck driver.  You will be responsible for delivering food products to destinations such as food manufacturers, wineries, ingredient/seasoning companies, and food warehouses.  These deliveries will have various unloading procedures including drop trailer, dock delivery, and hand unstacking/stacking.  The position requires face to face interaction with customer and we expect a customer first mentality.  Driver may be required to perform other warehouse duties as assigned.

We expect our team members to keep a clean and safe working environment, communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers, and follow our good manufacturing practices, procedures, rules and regulations.

*Food safety or quality responsibilities within job.  All staff are responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues to those that can initiate action.


  • Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Operate tractor-trailer combination and straight trucks
  • Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
  • Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment including forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
  • Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies
  • Verify and complete required documentation and reports
  • Collect cash or checks for deliveries, as required, and maintain required documentation.
  • Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch as required, including but not limited to: delays, arrivals, and equipment problems.
  • Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs and solicit additional business
  • Have a customer first mentality!
  • Ask for additional business from customers, and provide leads to sales for potential new opportunities.
  • May be required to perform job duties of a warehouse employee as assigned
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Ability and willingness to follow and enforce GMP’s and SOP’s
  • Work on own without direct supervision with a willingness to make decisions, act upon them and accept accountability.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and provide detailed oral and written work instructions in English.  (bi-lingual in Spanish a plus)
  • Basic safety knowledge
  • Basic computer skills
  • Routine handling and lifting of 65#’s
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without calculator.
  • Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
  • Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 291 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regluations.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck.

Wages and Benefits:

  • Starting pay at $16.50 with potential for growth based on experience and job performance
  • Group Health Insurance after 90 days
